We have been working on Byzantine icon painting since 1984. Our icons are made using the traditional Byzantine technique with a background of 23 carat gold sheets and egg based tempera paints.
All materials used are of very high quality.
The wood used on church sanctuary icons and churches is top quality Plywood while antique icons are made using natural bass-wood or synthetic Swedish pine-wood. These types of wood are not affected by bugs and do not deteriorate with time.
Preparation is via the traditional Byzantine technique, using a mixture of putty, zinc and Jardin glue.
All colours used are natural and not synthetic and as a result do not have any deterioration from light through time.
From a technical aspect, as you will see in our gallery, we have experience and know how in all three (Cretan, Macedonian and Eptanisian) schools of Byzantine icon painting.
